One of the most-anticipated Combate Global fight cards in the promotion's history is set for Friday in Miami on Paramount+. The card marks the Combate debut for 27-year-old Mexican featherweight Martin Bravo. El Toro, as he's also known, opened his career on an 11-fight winning streak before dropping his last three against tougher competition. Bravo will take on veteran American Andrew Whitney in the main event of the Sept. 17 Combate Global fight card.

The main Combate fight card will also feature David Solorzano (3-0) vs. Ramon Vizcarra (3-2) and Maritza Sanchez (1-1) vs. Elizabeth Schroder (1-1). The Combate Global fight card begins at 10:30 p.m. ET and can be streamed on Paramount+ with their must-have Premium plan

Combate Global picks for Sept. 17 fight card in Miami

Before tuning into Friday's fight card, you need to see the picks from SportsLine's MMA insider Andrew Gombas. With more than 1,200 selections tracked by the third-party monitoring service Bet MMA, Gombas has shown a 10 percent return on investment for his followers. In 2020, $100 bettors who tailed his picks were up $9,200.

For the Combate Global fight card on Sept. 17, Gombas is backing Bravo to pick up the win against Whitney in the main event.

Gombas isn't concerned about Bravo's recent three-fight losing streak since two of those defeats came in the UFC. In the third, he lost via split decision against Alex Caceres in "The Ultimate Fighter: Undefeated Finale." Those losses might have altered his professional trajectory, but they shouldn't hinder his chances of picking up a win in this Combate showcase.

Bravo has proven to be a versatile fighter who can wear down an opponent and win via decision, but he can also end fights early, evidenced by his nine career wins by knockout or submission.

Whitney, meanwhile, hasn't seen the overall level of competition that Bravo has. He's lost three straight fights as well and is 10 years older than Bravo. Gombas predicts that Bravo can control this fight "wherever it goes," making him the value pick on Friday.
