UFC 207 fight card: Dominick Cruz-Cody Garbrandt added to loaded set
Two bantamweight titles will be on the line to end the year in Las Vegas
Just chalk this up to showing off. The UFC isn't holding anything back with 2016 coming to close. The company already loaded its first event ever in New York City with six main-card bouts and three title fights. Now, UFC 207 will feature two title fights with Dominick Cruz accepting Cody Garbrandt's challenge for the bantamweight title in December.
Cruz (22-1, 5-0 UFC) will defend his 135-pound belt for the first time since June when he defeated Urijah Faber by unanimous decision. Six of his last seven victories have come via decision.
Meanwhile, Garbrandt is arguably the hottest MMA prospect in the game, holding a perfect 10-0 record with three straight first-round knockouts.
Garbrandt challenged after his most recent highlight-reel KO.
"Dominick Cruz, I'm going to break your jaw," said Garbrandt. "I'm going to show you who your daddy is for real."
Cruz sounds rather confident heading into this clash.
Cruz-Garbrandt joins Ronda Rousey vs. Amanda Nunes and Cain Velasquez vs. Fabricio Werdum as the three main fights for this card. For my money, that is a better lineup than UFC 205, which will feature Conor McGregor vs. Eddie Alvarez, Tyron Woodley vs. Stephen Thompson and Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs. Karolina Kowalkiewicz.
UFC 207 is scheduled for Dec. 30 in Las Vegas.
