Cory Sandhagen vs. T.J. Dillashaw expert preview
Prior to his knockout loss to Henry Cejudo in January 2019 and subsequent suspension, Dillashaw was the reigning UFC bantamweight champion. He first was crowned after knocking out Renan Barao at UFC 173 in May 2014. He successfully defended that title twice before losing by split decision to Dominick Cruz in January 2016.
In November 2017, Dillashaw regained the title with a second-round knockout win over Cody Garbrandt at UFC 217. Nine months later, he defended his title in a rematch with Garbrandt at UFC 227. He knocked out Garbrandt at 4:10 of the first round and earned Performance of the Night. For his career, Dillashaw is 17-4 with eight wins via knockout and three by submission.
Sandhagen has won two bouts in a row and nine of 10 following his knockout of Frankie Edgar at UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Volkov on Feb. 6, 2021, earning Performance of the Night. He began his MMA career in May 2015 with a win by submission over Bruce Sessman at 1:16 of the first round. He then went on to win his first five matches before losing to Jamall Emmers by unanimous decision.
His resume has been impressive, with wins over Edgar, Marlon Moraes and Raphael Assuncao. For his career, Sandhagen has compiled a 14-2 record with six wins by knockout and three by submission. You can see which Sandhagen vs. Dillashaw picks to make for the UFC Fight Night card at SportsLine.

We'll share one of Marley's UFC Fight Night selections here: He is going with Adrian Yanez (-240) to get his hand raised against Randy Costa (+200) in a matchup of lightweight prospects. Yanez has compiled a 13-3 MMA record, winning his last six fights. He won by knockout over Gustavo Lopez 27 seconds into the third round at UFC Fight Night on March 20. His last loss was in November 2018, dropping a split decision to Miles Johns.
Costa (6-1) is off to a fast start to his MMA career, which began in June 2018. Costa, who started off as a kickboxer, has posted knockouts in all six of his wins. His only loss was by submission to Brandon Davis in April 2019. In his last fight, he earned Performance of the Night honors with a knockout of Journey Newson 41 seconds into the first round at last September's UFC Fight Night: Covington vs. Woodley.
"I love this fight, but I am very high on Yanez, so I am going to be picking him over any non-ranked guy in this division," Marley told SportsLine.
