2019 Toyota/Save Mart 350 DFS: Best DraftKings, FanDuel daily fantasy NASCAR picks
SportsLine's Mike McClure, a DFS pro with almost $2 million in winnings, gives optimal lineup advice
For 33 races a year in NASCAR, drivers maneuver around variations of an oval, but for three races they throw a few right-hand turns in just to mix things up. On Sunday, NASCAR's first road test of the season will take place at Sonoma Raceway when the green flag drops for the 2019 Toyota/Save Mart 350. It's a 12-turn, 2.52-mile track where passing is incredibly difficult. Kevin Harvick has nine career top-10 finishes at Sonoma in 18 starts, he hasn't finished worse than sixth in four years and in his last two runs at Sonoma he has finished second and first. He'll undoubtedly be one of the most popular options in NASCAR DFS lineups on Sunday, but who should you roster? But before you fill out your NASCAR at Sonoma DFS rosters, be sure to see the picks from DFS millionaire Mike McClure.
McClure is a predictive data engineer and a DFS pro with nearly $2 million in career winnings. He's crushed his DFS selections in several sports recently, including producing multiple tournament rosters that have cashed huge.
Two weeks ago at the Firekeepers Casino 400, McClure rostered Joey Logano in both his FanDuel and DraftKings lineups. The result: Logano captured victory at Michigan, and anybody who rostered him was well their way to a huge day. Now he's turned his attention to Sunday's NASCAR at Sonoma slate and locked in his optimal lineups.
For the 2019 Toyota/Save Mart 350, we can tell you McClure is banking on Joey Logano. Before NASCAR's week off, Logano won at Michigan his last time out. It was his second win of the season and he's in first place in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup standings thanks to his overall consistency this season.
Logano has an impressive eight top-five finishes in his first 15 starts of the season and 11 overall top 10 runs. He hasn't always had the best luck at Sonoma, but he does have 10 career top-10 finishes on road courses in 21 career starts, including a win at Watkins Glen and a third-place finish at Sonoma in 2016.
McClure's optimal NASCAR DFS strategy also involves rostering Martin Truex Jr., who has two career wins at Sonoma. Truex understands the intricacies of Sonoma well and is a virtual lock to finish near the front if he avoids catastrophic issues with his car. In the last four races at Sonoma that he's been able to finish, he has two wins.
Truex has three checkered flags already this season to go along with two runner-up finishes and a third place last week at Michigan. He's led the fourth-most laps of any driver in NASCAR and his history at Sonoma Raceway makes him a serious threat to rack up plenty of NASCAR DFS points on Sunday.
McClure is also targeting a value driver with a strong track record at Sonoma. He's in prime position to make a run at the checkered flag and comes at a price that won't break the bank. This pick could be the difference between cashing huge in your tournaments and cash games or going home with nothing.
