After winning the first race of the Round of 8 at Texas Motor Speedway, Kyle Larson is now assured of a chance to race for his first NASCAR Cup Series championship in three weeks' time at Phoenix Raceway. All that's left for him now in the current round of the playoffs is to try and add to his series-leading eight victories on the season, beginning this weekend at Kansas Speedway.

On Wednesday, NASCAR released the starting lineup for this weekend's Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas, putting Kyle Larson on the pole by virtue of NASCAR's qualifying metric. The starting lineup was set by an algorithm that accounts for a driver's finish and fastest lap from the previous race as well as their points position.

Larson will start from the pole at Kansas looking for redemption from the spring, as he led 132 of 267 laps in May before a series of late-race restarts took the race out of his control and cost him the victory. Kyle Busch, who ended up winning that race, starts fourth.
