A guy is selling Dwyane Wade's birthday gift car for $800,000

For his thirtieth birthday, Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade was given a high-end automobile, a McLaren MP4-12C, with his name on the freaking thing. It is, quite frankly, beautiful. Here's a video of it from the dealership that gave it to him, The Collection:

Auto Evolution reported Tuesday that Wade was selling the car for $800,000. On Wednesday, the dealership issued a statement, clarifying that Wade had returned the car and they then sold it... and now the dude who bought it is flipping the car.

Dwyane Wade is not selling the McLaren THE COLLECTION gifted him for his 30th birthday. He returned the car to THE COLLECTION in exchange for another vehicle. The car is now being sold independently by an individual who bought the car used from our dealership. We were not aware that the client intended to sell the car. We believed he would keep it for his personal collection. We sincerely value our relationship with Mr. Wade. He drives several of our luxury vehicles and want to be clear that he has nothing to do with the online sale of this vehicle.

OK, a few things.

1. I like how Dwyane Wade's like "no thank you, dealership from which I buy all my super-high-end vehicles. I don't need this custom automobile with my name on it

2. The dealership then turning around and flipping the car is kind of funny. It's like that "Seinfeld" episode about Jon Voight's car.

3. I'm trying to imagine this person (let's say he's a dude) and his thought process. "Haha! Now that I have purchased Dwyane's car, I can turn around and sell it for $800,000! I am the smartest custom-car salesman in all the land.

4. That car is hot. Here are the engine specs from Wikipedia:

The car is powered by the M838T 3.8 litre twin-turbo V8 engine, designed and developed by McLaren and Ricardo. The design of the engine was based on a racing engine which was designed and developed by Tom Walkinshaw Racing for the IRL Indy Car Championship but never raced. However, other than the 93 mm bore, little of that engine remains in the M838T. It produces 592 bhp (441 kW; 600 PS) and 443 lb·ft (601 N·m) of torque. It has a redline of 8,500 rpm, with 80% of torque available at just 2,000 rpm. When first announced, McLaren claimed that it would have a higher horsepower to carbon dioxide emission ratio than any internal-combustion engine available at the time.
