Alleged stalker arrested for walking on court during Lakers vs. Nuggets
An alleged stalker ran onto the Pepsi Center court during Game 4 of a Western Conference playoff series between the Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets.
A female fan walked onto the Pepsi Center court while play was live during Game 4 of a Western Conference first round playoff series between the Denver Nuggets and the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night.
The woman's presence stopped play as a security official and a referee intervened as she attempted to approach Nuggets guard Ty Lawson while he dribbled the basketball.
The TNT broadcast, citing arena security sources, reported that the woman had a history of "stalking or following several players" and that she was "basically banned from the arena" for those incidents. TNT further reported, citing a police supervisor, that the woman was charged with trespassing for Sunday night's incident.
Yahoo Sports reported that the woman was "screaming" in the direction of the Nuggets bench and that she "stalked" former Nuggets forward Kenyon Martin during his time in Denver. Martin played for the Nuggets from 2004 to 2011 before signing with the Los Angeles Clippers for the 2011-2012 season.
The Associated Press added the following details, confirming that she was arrested.
The woman was arrested for investigation of trespassing and taken to a detention facility for booking, said Denver police Det. Todd Erickson, part of the security detail at Pepsi Center. The woman's name wasn't released.The Denver Post reported further details, including the woman's identity.
''I happened to see her walk on to the court and I thought, 'Uh, oh,''' Erickson said.
Sonny Jackson, a spokesman for Denver Police Department said the woman, Savannah McMillan, 20, was arrested and cited for trespassing.The Lakers went on to take Game 4, 92-88. Los Angeles now holds a 3-1 series lead. Game 5 will take place at Staples Center on Tuesday.
Kurt Schwartzkopf, chief marketing officer at the Pepsi Center said the woman did not appear intoxicated, but was disoriented. He said the woman was picked up and taken home by her mother.
