Bulls' Luol Deng out for Game 1 in Miami
Luol Deng will miss Game 1 in Miami for the Bulls as he continues to recover from a mysterious ailment.
Update 10:58 a.m.: Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau confirmed at shootaround that Deng is out for Game 1 in Miami, and has not traveled, as he just got out of the hospital. In more important, and scary news, the doctors still don't know quite what's wrong with him. Hopefully this clears up before it becomes even more serious.
CSN reports that Luol Deng was back in the hospital Sunday night and was not with the team in Miami.
According to a person with direct knowledge of the situation, Luol Deng didn't travel to Miami and isn't with the Bulls as of Sunday night.— Aggrey Sam (@CSNBullsInsider) May 6, 2013

Deng missed Game 7 against the Nets due to complications of a spinal tap test for meningitis. Note that it's not impossible for him to catch a flight Monday to be in Miami in time for the 7 p.m. ET start of Game 1 of the semifinals. But given his condition, it would be extreme, even for Deng who has tried very hard the past three years to break a perception that he's soft.
Without Deng, the Bulls turn to Jimmy Butler, who has had a great season and a great playoffs so far. But Deng is a more versatile weapon offensively off the dribble and a more experienced defender. Being without him would put the odds even further against Chicago in Game 1.
The Heat are 11 1/2-point favorites Monday night vs. the Bulls.
