DeMarcus Cousins has been suspended one game for throwing a punch, and then fined $20,000 for verbal abuse of an official and failing to leave the court in a timely manner after being ejected.
Cousins threw a punch at Houston's Patrick Beverley about three minutes into the game -- video here -- and then picked up consecutive technical fouls after disputing a call in the third quarter against the Rockets.
Cousins apologized on Twitter after the game:
Disappointed with the way I acted out on the court tonight. I want to apologize and say sorry to my team and the fans for letting them down— demarcus cousins (@boogiecousins) February 26, 2014
The two technicals give Cousins 15 on the season, meaning his next will earns him a one-game suspension. Cousins led the league last season with 17 technicals.
