Dwyane Wade's knee is bothering him; he's day-to-day

Dwyane Wade hasn't really looked like himself this postseason. He's not exploding, he's not running the floor as well, and he's not dominating games too much offensively. 

This is mainly because Wade's been dealing with a bothersome knee injury all season long. But in Game 4 against the Bulls, Wade aggravated it and, man, it sounds kind of bad. 

Via ESPN.com:

“This was just the first time you’ve seen it, other times I’ve been able to not show you,” Wade said after the game before revealing a rather gnarly detail about the bandage that certainly helps explain his troubles in the postseason.

“I’m taping it. When you have a [bone] bruise, you try to move the kneecap over so it won’t rub. When you get into game sweat you have to re-tape it a bit.”

Moving the kneecap over, even if that’s just athlete/trainer jargon, is not a reassuring revelation.

Not that the Heat have especially needed Wade yet. His numbers are down, but the Heat are still rolling, despite a hiccup in Game 1 against the Bulls. 

But as the postseason wears on, the Heat will desperately need Wade. You saw it last postseason where Wade (and Chris Bosh) were injured, and the Heat nearly fell out of the playoffs. Wade got healthier, and not coincidentally, the Heat won an NBA title. 

It's bugging him enough that Wade is potentially questionable for Game 5:

"His status hasn't changed," Spoelstra said of Wade, who has multiple bruises and has been dealing with soreness in his right knee for more than two months. "We all know what he's dealing with. He's day to day. We'll evaluate him today. We'll evaluate him tomorrow and go from there."

So the question is, do you rest Wade now? The Heat are up 3-1 and headed back to Miami to play a fatigued, overwhelmed Bulls team. It's very possible Miami could handle business in Game 5 without Wade's help. And with the next series likely to be a very tough, physical one against either the Knicks or Pacers, maybe it's best to sit Wade down for a bit to try to sneak some extra rest.
