Eye on Basketball Podcast: Figuring out the Brooklyn Nets
Zach Harper and Tim Bontemps go over the Jason Kidd drama, where the Brooklyn Nets stand with their offseason, and what to expect of them next season.
The Brooklyn Nets have had a very weird and confusing offseason, so I've grabbed Tim Bontemps of The New York Post to come help me figure out where they stand in the East. The offseason started off with Jason Kidd helping recruit the Nets' free agents to re-sign and helping out with the draft, all while apparently making a move for more power in the organization. He also had the Milwaukee Bucks as a backup plan, even though they didn't have a job opening for general manager nor for their coach. So how did all of this shake out?
The Nets ended up with Lionel Hollins as their coach and now have to figure out how to turn last season's second half success into this season's ability to contend in a wide-open Eastern Conference. They've lost Paul Pierce, Andray Blatche, and Shaun Livingston. They've added Bojan Bogdanovic, Jarrett Jack, and get Brook Lopez back from his foot surgery. What will this team look like? Can they stay healthy? Can Deron Williams return to form with them?
We discuss all of this, plus how the East stacks up, why a dry heat still sucks, and much more.
