Eye on Basketball Podcast: Lang Whitaker of NBA.com
Zach Harper and Lang Whitaker talk about covering the NBA, the progression of LeBron James and Ricky Rubio and free agency.
I'm joined by Lang Whitaker of the All Ball Blog on NBA.com to discuss his incredible career covering the NBA and the world of basketball right now. Lang worked for SLAM Magazine and SLAMOnline.com before moving over to NBA.com full time. He has covered a lot of players from Ricky Rubio to Eddy Curry to LeBron James. What has it been like seeing a 15-year-old Spanish point guard playing professional basketball grow into one of the more intriguing point guards in the NBA? Is James the story that has been the most fun to watch progress? Who has been the most disappointing?
Free agency has been chaotic in the first couple days of this offseason. Where do teams like the Milwaukee Bucks and Charlotte Bobcats go? Can the Indiana Pacers keep up with the other elite teams around the league by reshaping their bench? Is it weird that the Los Angeles Clippers are one of the best teams in the NBA? How does their offseason so far add to the craziness of what we've seen with free agency? And is Andre Iguodala going to be the biggest contract outside of Dwight Howard and Chris Paul?
We discuss all of this, plus travel stories, stealing Phoenix trainers and throwing trash at media members.
