J.R. Smith to play 12-13 minutes in preseason debut

J.R. Smith may have participated in his first practice on Monday, but he'll be ready to make his preseason debut by Tuesday.

According to head coach Tyronn Lue, the 31-year-old shooting guard will play 12-to-13 minutes versus the Washington Wizards in Cleveland's preseason finale on Tuesday:

Smith and the Cleveland Cavaliers agreed with a four-year, $57 million contract on Friday. The veteran guard went through his team physical on Monday before practicing for the first time during 2016 training camp.

The 12-year veteran averaged 12.4 points on 40.0 percent shooting from beyond the arc as the team's starting shooting guard last season. It's unclear whether Smith or Iman Shumpert will start at two-guard versus the Wizards on Tuesday.
