The San Antonio Spurs have announced that Kawhi Leonard is listed as doubtful for Game 2 of the Western Conference finals Tuesday night against the Golden State Warriors

The news was announced after the results of Leonard's MRI arrived, which showed no sign of structural damage.

For what it's worth, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said earlier Monday that he expects to be without his star forward.

Leonard aggravated a pre-existing injury to his left ankle twice in the third quarter of Game 1 -- after the second incident, in which he landed on the foot of Warriors center Zaza Pachulia, he was removed from the game and did not return. Golden State leads the series after Sunday's 113-111 victory.

The impact of Leonard's injury was apparent immediately, as Golden State went on an 18-0 run en route to erasing a 25-point Spurs lead. Leonard had looked dominant before his injury, scoring 26 points in the first half on 7-of-13 shooting while pulling down eight rebounds.

Leonard missed Game 6 of the Spurs' series with the Rockets because of an injury to the same ankle, and many -- including Popovich -- are saying that Pachulia slid under Leonard on the jump shot intentionally. For what it's worth, Leonard said he didn't think the play was dirty.

In any case, if Leonard is forced to miss extended time in the series, it could spell disaster for the Spurs.
