Kirilenko, Deron Williams out Friday for Nets, Lopez might play
The Brooklyn Nets are likely to be without Andrei Kirilenko, Deron Williams, and Brook Lopez for Friday's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Brooklyn Nets are in desperate need of health and continuity in order to lift themselves out of this early season dispair. The Nets are tied for the second worst record in the Eastern Conference right now (3-8 along with the Knicks, Bucks are 2-8) and have been absymal on the road at just 1-6. They'll be heading to Minneapolis for Friday's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, however they definitely won't be at full strength.
Tim Bontemps of the New York Post tells us that Andrei Kirilenko (back issues) is out for Friday's game. After Deron Williams injured his ankle for the second time in a week, he won't play either. Brook Lopez is also nursing a sprained ankle and while there is a small chance he laces them up against the Wolves, he probably won't play either.
Kirilenko definitely is out tomorrow. Sounds like a small chance Brook plays, but likely out. Not expecting Deron to play.— Tim Bontemps (@TimBontemps) November 21, 2013
Mr. Prokhorov, please send medical supplies.
The Nets have been awful on both ends of the court this season. They're 20th in offensive efficiency (99.6 points per 100 possessions). They were ninth in the NBA last season at 105.0. With Kevin Garnett and Andrei Kirilenko joining the team this season, they were supposed to get a big bump in defensive efficiency after allowing 103.6 points per 100 possessions last season (18th in the league).
They're currently 26th in the NBA at 104.9. Garnett has not been a difference-maker on either side of the floor and Kirilenko has only played in 53 minutes over four games. Lopez is the team's leading scorer at 20.5 points per game but he's only been able to play in eight of the team's 11 games.
