Knicks vs. 76ers odds: Picks from analytical expert on 8-3 NBA run
Larry Hartstein has nailed eight of his past 11 NBA picks and just locked in a play for Monday night
Playing the fourth game of a five-game homestand, the red-hot 76ers host the Knicks, losers of six straight, in a 7 p.m. ET Monday contest. The Sixers opened as 11.5-point favorites and now are laying 12. The over-under, or total number of points Vegas thinks will be scored, has risen slightly from 208 to 209.
Before picking either side, you need to read what SportsLine hoops expert Larry Hartstein has to say
Last week, Hartstein made a confident pick on Pelicans-Sixers, noting how New Orleans, a five-point underdog, was still adjusting to newcomer Nikola Mirotic. He also knew J.J. Redick finding his shooting touch would spell trouble for the Pelicans. The result: Redick shot 60 percent from the field as Philly rolled 100-82, easily covering the spread by double-digits.
That helped improve Hartstein to a sizzling 8-3 in his past 11 NBA picks.
Part of his success: Hartstein has a strong analytical background and a vast network of Vegas sources. He has been covering the industry as a sportswriter and analyst for two decades.
Now, he has examined every matchup, every player and every trend for Knicks-Sixers and locked in his pick. We can tell you he's expecting a low-scoring affair and leaning toward the under, but what about the spread, which he's 8-3 picking?
Hartstein knows if the Knicks want to win -- or at least stay within the spread -- they're going to need better long-distance shooting than they got against the Pacers on Sunday. The Knicks jacked up 35 3-pointers, but only nine swished. Tim Hardaway Jr. must put in a stronger performance than his 3-for-10 shooting from beyond the arc in Indianapolis.
Philadelphia can cover the spread by limiting turnovers and getting quality possessions against a middling Knicks defense. Joel Embiid can score from anywhere on the court, but too often settles for off-target 3-point shots early in possessions that lead to easy fastbreak points the other way.
Hartstein know there's a strong trend that determines which side of Knicks-76ers you should be all over on Monday.
