Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball will continue his carousel of footwear on Sunday night, as the cornerstone of Big Baller Brand has announced which shoes he will wear for the Lakers' summer league semifinal matchup with the Dallas Mavericks in Las Vegas.
After wearing his own ZO2s for the first two games, Ball has worn Nike, Adidas and Under Armour in his past three games, all Lakers wins. On Sunday, live on ESPN2, Ball revealed which pair he would go with next.
"Jordan 31s," Ball said.
When asked whether he was trying to start a bidding war by wearing various brands during his games, Ball replied, "Something like that."
LaVar Ball, Lonzo's father and the founder of Big Baller Brand, told ESPN on Saturday that the Balls are trying to make a point by Lonzo wearing different sneakers every night:
"It's making a statement to the brands of what they could have had with an open mind," Ball said via text message. "The players are the brand ambassadors. The brand is nothing without the players."
Asked whether there is still a chance for a big shoe brand to sign his son, LaVar responded: "If the price is right. Quite frankly we are officially in the shoe game, and are a billion-dollar brand either way."
Lonzo has performed brilliantly in his past three games while wearing shoes other than his own, and he'll try to lead the Lakers to the Las Vegas summer league final with another win on Sunday.
