NBA DFS for March 4: Best DraftKings, FanDuel daily fantasy basketball picks
SportsLine's Mike McClure, a DFS pro with more than $1M in winnings, gives optimal lineup advice
Before you enter a daily fantasy basketball tournament for NBA action on Sunday, you need to hear what professional DFS player Mike McClure has to say. McClure has more than $1 million in career DFS winnings and is rolling through the NBA season, already cashing multiple tournament and cash game rosters.
He has been able to do all that thanks to some spot-on picks.
On Saturday, McClure locked in Spurs center Pau Gasol at $6,500 on FanDuel. The result: Gasol was just two rebounds shy of a triple-double and had 50 points on FanDuel. He was only around three percent owned in tournaments, giving a huge edge to anyone who rostered him.
For Sunday's slate, McClure is all over Mavericks point guard Dennis Smith Jr. as a value pick at $6,200 on FanDuel and $6,700 on DraftKings.
Smith is coming off one of his best performances of the season. He scored 25 points in just 34 minutes against the Bulls and gets a dream matchup on Sunday against the Pelicans, who rank in the bottom half of the NBA in scoring defense. He has a strong chance to put up big numbers again on Sunday in what should be a high-scoring affair.
If you roster Smith, you'll have plenty of cap room for a huge star like Lou Williams, who is $8,200 on FanDuel and $7,700 on DraftKings.
Williams is fresh off a streak of three straight games with at least 40 points on FanDuel and DraftKings and now has a date with the Nets, who let him run wild for almost 40 points on FanDuel last month. At 225 points, Nets-Clippers has the highest Over-Under of the slate, so look for a game-changing performance from Williams.
McClure is also targeting a guard with a dream matchup on Sunday. The stars are aligning for him to go for 40, even 50 points on DraftKings and FanDuel, and he comes at a price that won't break the bank. This pick could be the difference between winning your tournaments and cash games or going home with nothing.
