NBA Draft 2017: De'Aaron Fox reportedly set to work out for Lakers, 76ers

Many draft experts expect the Lakers to select Lonzo Ball with the No. 2 pick in the NBA Draft in June. Yet Los Angeles is doing its due diligence ahead of time by interviewing other prospects -- including Kentucky's De'Aaron Fox, who will work out in mid-June, according to Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News.

With the top pick, many believe Washington point guard Markelle Fultz will fall off the board. Ball and Fox, however, seem to be the consensus Nos. 2 and 3 prospects at point guard. And the two are pitted together regularly when discussing and debating who might be the franchise player of tomorrow.

Both Fox and Ball battled head-to-head in the regular season where UCLA topped Kentucky in Lexington, but in the NCAA Tournament rematch, Fox got the best of Ball, going off for 39 points and shaming Ball, who struggled to front him defensively as he managed just 10 points.

The Lakers interest in Fox creates an interesting dynamic with the draft approaching as LaVar Ball, Lonzo's father, has long predicted his son would become a Laker. In fact, he's made it clear his son would only work out for the Lakers.

Fox, who averaged 16.7 points and 4.6 assists per game as a freshman for Kentucky last season, is also expected to work out with the Philadelphia 76ers before the NBA Draft on June 22, according to the report.
