Nightly Grades: Three sentences and a cloud of dust

Each night, Eye on Basketball brings you what you need to know about the games of the NBA. From great performances to terrible clock management the report card evaluates and eviscerates the good, the bad, and the ugly from the night that was. 

Tonight, a special three-sentence edition.


John Wall had 32 and 10. 

But the Washington Wizards couldn't get stops. 

Otto Porter did not play.


Dion was hot. 

So was Kyrie. 

The Cavs are 1-0 since Grant was fired. 


Steve Nash looked alive. 

Which is a neat trick. 

The Sixers aer tanking. 


Their defense was salsa. 

And not the spicy good kind. 

No, seriously, they're tanking. 


DeMarcus Cousins was a monster. 

But the Sacramento Kings basically fell asleep in the 3rd. 

Kelly Olynyk dunked on them.


Jared Sullinger gave great effort. 

They outsmarted the Kings. 

Rondo and Bradley didn't play. 


This game was awesome. 

The Indiana Pacers drug them into hell, slowly.

George Hill was as good as Paul George was bad.


Robin Lopez was incredible. 

Damian Lillard even moreso. 

Their defense fell apart like old cake. 


Kevin Love is a beast. 

And Ricky Rubio made shots. 

But the Wolves find another way to lose. 


Brian Roberts hit a dagger. 

Anthony Morrow was lights out 

Anthony Davis is not human. 


Kevin Garnett didn't play. 

And Deron Williams ' floater was wet. 

These two things together do not equal a win.


Andre Drummond had 22 rebounds. 

Greg Monroe made a bunch of plays. 

They should play mediocre teams missing most of their good players every night.


Melo was terrific. 

Tyson Chandler stole many lunches.

Then he ate them.


J.J. Hickson got killed inside. 

Their defense got lost. 

They have to hit threes at high rates to stay in games. 


Kevin Garnett missed shots down the stretch.

They did not get back on defense. 

They lost a game they shouldn't have. 


Victor Oladipo was great. 

Tobias Harris made tough shots. 

Buzzer-beater dunks are fun. 


The Utah Jazz are bad. 

They did not play well. 

But Marvin Williams played well. 


Dirk was Dirk. 

Monta played well. 

They still need a center. 


DeMar DeRozan was terrific.

Their defense was not. 

They hack-a-Shaq'd DeAndre Jordan for 40 minutes. 


Blake Griffin scored a lot. 

DeAndre Jordan shot many free throws. 

This could have been worse.
