PHOTO: Spurs' Boris Diaw signs his contract on a boat
Of course Boris Diaw signed his Spurs contract on a boat.
You might recall Chandler Parsons signing his Dallas Mavericks offer sheet in a club with his family and Mark Cuban. It made sense -- you know, a 25-year-old signing his first massive deal after a couple of years being perhaps the league's most underpaid player. Well, San Antonio Spurs forward Boris Diaw also signed his contract in a bit of an unusual location:
Yep, he signed his reported three-year, $22 million deal on a boat. For the 32-year-old veteran, it makes sense. Diaw's a photographer on the side, traveling around the world for his projects. Also, if you read Jonathan Abrams' recent profile of Diaw and Tony Parker at Grantland, you probably remember this quote:
“Boris, what makes me laugh, is he’s not scared of anything,” said T.J. Parker, Tony’s brother. “He goes to Peru or Africa, goes swimming in crazy lakes, and if it looks like a crocodile is in there, I’m like, ‘No way. I’m not going in there. That looks like the movie Anaconda.’ He’s not scared of those things. He’s like, ‘I don’t care,’ and he’ll just jump in. He just amazes me.”
So, yeah, of course Diaw signed his contract on a boat.
