Quote of the Day: Ray Allen says 'you can never smite glory'

Your awesome quote of the day comes courtesy of Ray Allen, via the AP. Allen was asked about the shot above which he hit in Game 6 of the 2013 Finals vs. San Antonio, which saved the Heat's season and eventually lead to their second successive championship:

"You can never smite glory," Allen said. "It's something that you always will be associated with when you're winning."

"You can never smite glory." Someone get that on a T-shirt right now, right now, right now. And glory really is the essence of that shot, even if some people think it was a travel

The shot was so big, in fact, that despite the fact that Allen is the all-time 3-point leader in NBA history, that shot may be the one he's remember for most. Just read this other quote on people's reaction to it:

"It doesn't matter where I went, where I've gone, what city or state I was in, it's all people could talk about," Allen said. "I always have to let people know that in that situation, being a part of a team, I was part of the reason. Everybody kept telling me I was the reason. We had 15 parts of the reason. You look back on the season and somebody always did something to help our team win a game. That's what being a great teammate is all about."

It was the biggest moment of his storied career. So yeah, I guess you could say that leaving the Celtics worked out OK for Ray.
