In their search for a new general manager, the Atlanta Hawks will interview a face that's familiar to NBA fans: former point guard Chauncey Billups. Via ESPN's Chris Haynes:

This is a somewhat curious move by the Hawks, who reassigned former general manager Wes Wilcox after the regular season. Billups has no front office experience, and has been working as a television analyst since his retirement from the NBA in 2014.

Billups is best known for being named NBA Finals MVP after leading the Pistons to the 2004 NBA title. He was a five-time All-Star known for his clutch performances, which earned him the nickname "Mr. Big Shot."

The Hawks also relieved coach Mike Budenholzer of his role as president of basketball operations, so there are vacancies in significant roles within Atlanta's front office. While it certainly doesn't hurt to interview Billups, you'd have to think that someone with more experience might be better suited for the general manager role.
