The Milwaukee Bucks and Matthew Dellavedova are close to an agreement on a four-year, $38 million deal, according to ESPN's Zach Lowe. Dellavedova is a restricted free agent, so if he signs the offer sheet with Milwaukee after the six-day moratorium is over, the Cleveland Cavaliers would be able to match the contract.
If the Cavaliers don't match -- and the Bucks don't expected them to, per ESPN's Brian Windhorst -- then Dellavedova is a quick replacement for Jerryd Bayless, who reportedly agreed to a three-year, $27 million deal with the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday. He's also a great fit with Milwaukee's personnel.
Dellavedova might not be the best playmaking point guard, but the Bucks don't need someone like that. If Giannis Antetokounmpo is their primary ballhandler, then Dellavedova just needs to make open 3s, run secondary pick-and-rolls and use his endless energy to be a pest on defense. That's exactly his game, and paying him less than $10 million per season is a relative steal in this market.
Fun fact: Dellavedova played a total of five minutes in the Cavs' three consecutive Finals wins to clinch the franchise's first title, and backup center Timofey Mozgov played a total of four minutes. As well as both being champions, and they are both on the verge of signing rich, new contracts.
