Report: Grizzlies want Wolves' 2nd-round pick for Dave Joerger
Memphis head coach Dave Joerger could be headed to Minnesota in exchange for a second-round pick.
Memphis Grizzlies head coach Dave Joerger had an interview with Minnesota Timberwolves president Flip Saunders on Thursday, and the Grizzlies are expected to ask for a second-round pick in compensation if the Wolves want to hire him, according to Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.
Joerger will meet with Minnesota owner Glen Taylor, and that could "ultimately clear the way for him to become the Timberwolves coach," according to Yahoo. That is scheduled to happen this weekend, according to the Associated Press' Jon Krawczynski, who reported that "all signs point to Joerger replacing the retired Rick Adelman" in Minnesota.
This has all moved extremely quickly. At the beginning of the week, the public had no idea about Memphis' front-office dysfunction and the word around the Wolves was that Sam Mitchell had emerged as a "serious candidate." If the compensation conversation is a short one, then this could all be wrapped up rather soon. For Minnesota, at least.
