Report: Jacque Vaughn to join Kenny Atkinson's staff in Brooklyn

Former Orlando Magic coach Jacque Vaughn is joining Brooklyn Nets coach Kenny Atkinson's staff as an assistant coach, according to The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski. Vaughn spent this season as a pro scout with the San Antonio Spurs, where he worked with Nets general manager Sean Marks.

The Magic fired Vaughn last February. Before that, he was an assistant coach with the Spurs. He will reportedly be Atkinson's top assistant in Brookyn.

In two-and-a-half seasons in Orlando, Vaughn had a record of 58-158. He was probably not going to get another shot as a head coach before becoming an assistant again. Since Atkinson is a first-time NBA head coach, it made sense that his top assistant would be someone with head-coaching experience. The Nets are a long way from contention, so Vaughn better get ready to be back in a rebuilding situation.
