Report: Reggie Williams agrees to 1-year contract with Heat
Swingman Reggie Williams can give Miami some scoring punch off the bench.
The 27-year-old is coming off a whirlwind of a season. He signed with the Houston Rockets a bit over a year ago, but was cut from the team during training camp. He then went to the D-League and was eventually called up by the Oklahoma City Thunder. After a couple of 10-day contracts in Oklahoma City, he played nine games for the San Miguel Beermen in the Philippine Basketball Association, where in nine games Williams averaged 30 points, nine rebounds and five assists.
In Miami, he will have an opportunity to be in the rotation like he was in Golden State and Charlotte for his first three years in the league. Williams has made 37 percent of his 3s in the NBA, but his efficiency dropped off significantly after he left the Warriors.
With James Jones and possibly Ray Allen leaving the Heat, they needed some additional shooting. Williams will compete with Danny Granger and James Ennis for backup minutes behind Dwyane Wade and Luol Deng on the wing.
