The Philadelphia 76ers will likely be without guard Jerryd Bayless for the first month of the season, according to ESPN's Jeff Goodman. Bayless is recovering from a torn ligament in his left wrist.

Bayless suffered the injury before the beginning of the preseason, so he has yet to play a game for the Sixers. He was signed in the summer and expected to start at point guard.

In Bayless' absence, Philadelphia will use Sergio Rodriguez and T.J. McConnell at point guard. Neither one of them, though, is the shooter that Bayless is.

Heading into training camp, the Sixers expected No. 1 pick Ben Simmons to start at the 4 but play point forward. In that scenario, Bayless' skill set would have fit perfectly -- he doesn't need the ball in his hands, and he can space the floor. Now, Simmons is out for months with a foot injury and Bayless isn't about to play anytime soon, either. Hey, at least Philadelphia fans have learned to be patient.
