Reports: Nets lose C Brook Lopez for season to broken foot
Brooklyn will be without perhaps its most consistent player for the remainder of the season.
The injury apparently occurred sometime Friday night in Brooklyn's overtime loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. According to ESPN, Lopez finished the game and the team didn't find out about the injury until x-rays were taken after the game. CBSSports.com's Ken Berger reports that the Nets are not officially ruling Lopez out yet, but his return is not anticipated this season.
This marks the third time Lopez has broken his left foot, which was surgically repaired in 2011.
Lopez has been arguably the Nets best player this season, averaging a team-high 20.7 points per game to go along with 6.0 rebounds.
The Nets are 9-17 on the season and in third place in their division.
