Through 3 Quarters

The Houston Rockets were expected to take an 'L' in this one, but so far it isn't playing out to script. Either team is in a position to win, but they lead against the Cleveland Cavaliers 90-85.

Center Christian Wood (16 points), shooting guard Jalen Green (16 points), and small forward Garrison Mathews (16 points) have been the top scorers for Houston. Christian Wood does need to be careful, however, as he is in foul trouble with four. Small forward Jae'Sean Tate is also in foul trouble with four.

Cleveland has been relying on power forward Kevin Love, who has posted a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards, and power forward Evan Mobley, who has dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Mobley has also picked up four fouls, though.

the Cavaliers have lost 73% of the time when they were down heading into the fourth quarter this year, so this one seems just about wrapped up

Who's Playing

Cleveland @ Houston

Current Records: Cleveland 31-20; Houston 14-36

What to Know

The Houston Rockets have been on the wrong side of a one-way rivalry with the Cleveland Cavaliers and are hoping to record their first win since Dec. 11 of 2019. Houston will play host again and welcome Cleveland to Toyota Center, where tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday. Allowing an average of 116.94 points per game, the Rockets have been asleep on the defensive side of the ball and will need to wake up before the contest.

The game between Houston and the Golden State Warriors on Monday was not a total blowout, but with Houston falling 122-108 at home, it was darn close to turning into one. Despite the defeat, Houston got a solid performance out of center Christian Wood, who shot 5-for-9 from downtown and finished with a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds.

Meanwhile, the Cavaliers narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the New Orleans Pelicans 93-90. The top scorer for Cleveland was point guard Brandon Goodwin (21 points).

The Rockets are expected to lose this next one by 4.5. Those sticking with them against the spread have guts, to put it politely, as the team has let down bettors in their past three games.

Houston took a serious blow against Cleveland in the teams' previous meeting last December, falling 124-89. Maybe Houston will have more luck at home instead of on the road? Watch the matchup and check back on CBS Sports for all the details.
