It hasn't taken long for the Sacramento Kings to head in a new direction now that the Vivek Ranadive ownership group has been approved. With the ink still fresh on the purchase agreement and the votes still warm from being counted by the NBA Board of Governors on the new ownership group, they've been moving toward finding a new coach for the team and a new decision-maker.

They're confident in finding a coach before they find a new general manager, though. Ken Berger of confirms the team has come to an agreement in priniciple with Golden State Warriors' assistant coach Mike Malone on a four-year deal to take over the sidelines of the Kings and start trying to lead them to more victories.

Since the team fired Rick Adelman in 2006, they've compiled a horrendous record of 187-371 over seven seasons. They've gone through one season of Eric Musselman, 1.5 seasons of Reggie Theus, a half season of Kenny Natt, 2.5 seasons of Paul Westphal and 1.5 seasons of Keith Smart. They failed to win more than 33 games in any of those seven seasons and have missed the playoffs every year since firing Adelman.

Malone will be given the task of bringing the young players (especially DeMarcus Cousins) together and turning them into something resembling a winning roster.
