The New York Knicks announced Wednesday that F/C Rasheed Wallace needs surgery to repair a broken foot and is out at least eight weeks, effectively ending his regular season.
Bummer.
Sheed came out of retirement to join the Knicks this season, playing off the bench and averaging 7.2 points and 4.3 rebounds per game in 20 appearances. But injuries held him out and there had been long-rumored speculation that his season was through.
The Knicks have been short on big men all year, relying on veterans like Sheed and Marcus Camby who have had injury issues throughout the year.
Wallace could theoretically be back for the playoffs, but his level of contribution is under concern at this point.
