Source: Blake Griffin joins Jordan Brand

Blake Griffin made his 2012-13 debut for the Clippers Wednesday night sporting a sharp pair of cobalt blue Jordans, and not without good reason.

The Clippers' high-flying forward has become the latest NBA star to join Nike's Jordan Brand, an industry source told CBSSports.com. An announcement is expected soon on the new endorsement deal for the Clippers' two-time All-Star.

It's been a busy few months for Griffin, 23, who became the first of the 2009 first-round picks to agree to a contract extension when he signed a five-year deal potentially worth $95 million in July. With the deadline for '09 picks to sign extensions passing at 12:01 a.m. ET Thursday, James Harden (Rockets), Stephen Curry (Warriors), DeMar DeRozan, Taj Gibson (Bulls) and Jrue Holiday (76ers) joined him.

The Thunder's Serge Ibaka also agreed to an extension under those rules because he was a 2008 pick with the same years of service.

Griffin joins teammate Chris Paul in the Jordan Brand stable, which also includes such NBA stars as Carmelo Anthony, Ray Allen and Joe Johnson. Earlier this month, Nike announced that it had signed Oklahoma City point guard Russell Westbrook to the Jordan Brand.

Those last two additions would seem to personify the Jumpman logo on their shoes fairly well.
