V. Stiviano is 'very saddened' by Donald Sterling's lifetime NBA ban
V. Stiviano, the woman who recorded the messages that ultimately led to Donald Sterling's ban from the NBA, is "very saddened" by the punishment.
V. Stiviano is the woman who ultimately set this entire circus in motion, which led to Los Angeles Clippers' owner Donald Sterling being banned for life by NBA commissioner Adam Silver. The punishment also includes a $2.5 million fine that will go to charity and Silver doing everything in his power to force the sale of the Clippers with NBA owners' approval. Stiviano isn't happy about the fallout of this whole ordeal though.
According to Stiviano's attorney, Stiviano is "very saddened" by the punishment and never meant to harm Sterling. She also claims she's devastated by the fact that these private recordings got out to the public, which led to Sterling's lifetime ban effective immediately. From the LA Times:
V. Stiviano, the woman at the center of the Donald Sterling scandal, said she was “very saddened” by the NBA’s decision to ban him from the sport for life, her attorney said Tuesday.
V. Stiviano “never wanted any harm to Donald,” Calabasas lawyer Mac Nehoray of Calabasas told The Times.
He said the 31-year-old is still reeling from the release of the recordings in which Sterling chastises her for associating with African Americans, including Magic Johnson. He said that “someone released it for money” but it wasn’t Stiviano.
“My client is devastated that this got out,” he said.
Her attorney said "someone" released the tape for money but claims it wasn't his client. This leads to the question that if it wasn't his client who released it then how did it get out? Was it stolen? Who did she give the recordings to that may have ultimately led to this conversation going viral? What was the point of recording the conversations if it wasn't intended to harm Sterling?
This may not be the end of this saga.
