Video: Clippers G Chris Paul re-injures groin vs. Grizzlies
Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul re-injured his groin during Game 5 vs. the Memphis Grizzlies.
Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul was unable to play the closing minute of Wednedsay night's Game 5 of a Western Conference first-round playoff series against the Memphis Grizzlies because of a strained right groin.
Paul aggravated a groin injury that has been bothering him for some time while attemping to corral a defensive rebound with roughly seven minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Paul played through the injury but eventually departed with 1:24 remaining and the Clippers trailing 85-77.
The Grizzlies went on to win, 92-80, to narrow L.A.'s series lead to 3-2. Game 6 is set for Friday night in Los Angeles.
L.A. also lost forward Blake Griffin to a knee injury, but he returned to finish the game.
After the game, Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro said he expected both would be ready to go for Game 6, set for Friday night in Los Angeles.
"We had to get Chris out of there in the end, he was hobbling a little bit," he said. "I expect them both to be fine. They were both able to go back in the game. They are going to be sore and injured and they are going to have to fight through it as best they can."
Paul finished with 19 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 setals and 1 block on 5-for-11 shooting in 39 minutes.
