Video: Thunder's Russell Westbrook happy with his shooting vs. Lakers
Russell Westbrook's reactions to some of his first half 3-pointers were as entertaining as the game itself.
Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook hasn't had the best shooting performance this season. His 42.3 percent from the field is his lowest success rate since the 2009-10 season, when he made just 41.8 percent of his shots. And his 76.5 percent from the free-throw line is the lowest of his career.
However, his 3-point shooting is at a career-high 36.4 percent. His previous season best was the 2010-11 season, when he hit 33 percent of his 3-pointers. His 3-point celebrations have improved as much as his shooting. Against the Lakers on Friday night, he knocked down five 3-pointers in the first half, totaling 27 points by halftime.
Westbrook looked completely locked in. As outside shot after outside shot rained down on his opponents, he snarled to himself, holstered his hand signals for his made 3s and even holstered his hands while doing a reverse summersault after he made his fifth 3-pointer of the half.
He finished with 33 points on 12 of 26 shooting, including 5 of 8 from 3-point range. He also had eight assists and just two turnovers in the Thunder's 114-108 victory.
To say he was enjoying his shooting barrage would be an understatement. When he has it going, his game and his celebrations are as entertaining as the NBA can be right now. Unless you're a Lakers fan, that was fun to watch.
