Through 3 Quarters

The experts predicted a defeat for the Denver Nuggets, but with just one quarter left to go, they seem like they might make the experts look bad. It's still tight after three quarters, with Denver leading 83-82 over the Dallas Mavericks.

Center Nikola Jokic has led the way so far for the Nuggets, as he has dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds along with five dimes. Dallas has been relying on the performance of power forward Kristaps Porzingis, who has shot 5-for-7 from beyond the arc and has recorded 29 points and eight boards. Porzingis is close to surpassing his season high of 32.

The Mavericks haven't lost 80% of the games in which they were down heading into the final period this year, so a win here would be refreshing.

What to Know

After two games on the road, the Dallas Mavericks are heading back home. They will take on the Denver Nuggets at 8 p.m. ET on Monday at American Airlines Center after having had a few days off. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, Dallas and Denver will really light up the scoreboard.

While not quite a landslide, the contest between the Mavericks and the San Antonio Spurs this past Friday was still a pretty decisive one as Dallas wrapped it up with a 123-109 victory on the road. It was another big night for Dallas' point guard Luka Doncic, who shot 6-for-13 from beyond the arc and finished with a triple-double on 32 points, 15 dimes, and 12 boards. That's Doncic's first triple-double of the season.

Meanwhile, the Portland Trail Blazers typically have all the answers at home, but on Sunday Denver proved too difficult a challenge. The Nuggets blew past Rip City 124-95. Denver's center Nikola Jokic did his thing and had 28 points and nine assists along with nine rebounds.

The Mavericks are the favorite in this one, with an expected 5.5-point margin of victory. Those who got lucky with them against the spread this past Friday might want to hold off on placing bets this time since the team has yet to string together back-to-back wins against the spread.

Dallas took a serious blow against Denver in the teams' previous meeting last month, falling 106-75. Maybe Dallas will have more luck at home instead of on the road? Watch the matchup and check back on CBS Sports for all the details.
