Through 3 Quarters

The point spread is against the New Orleans Pelicans, but thus far the points are on their side. They have emerged as the frontrunner after three quarters and are ahead of the Minnesota Timberwolves 97-89.

Small forward Brandon Ingram has led the way so far for New Orleans, as he has 23 points and eight assists along with four boards. One thing to keep an eye out for is Jaxson Hayes' foul situation as he currently sits at four.

Minnesota has been relying on center Karl-Anthony Towns, who has 18 points and four assists in addition to six rebounds, and point guard D'Angelo Russell, who has 16 points and six assists.

This is the most points the Pelicans have had yet this year going into the fourth quarter.

What to Know

The Minnesota Timberwolves' road trip will continue as they head to Smoothie King Center at 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday to face off against the New Orleans Pelicans. The Timberwolves should still be feeling good after a victory, while New Orleans will be looking to regain their footing.

Minnesota had enough points to win and then some against the Houston Rockets on Sunday, taking their game 141-123. Minnesota's center Karl-Anthony Towns did his thing and had 40 points and seven assists along with nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, it was close but no cigar for New Orleans as they fell 105-101 to the Toronto Raptors on Sunday. Point guard Devonte' Graham had a pretty forgettable game, finishing with 11 points on 4-for-11 shooting in his 31 minutes on the court.

Minnesota is the favorite in this one, with an expected 3.5-point margin of victory. The odds have been favorable for them against the spread on the road this season, even if it's been tough sledding overall. They are 13-6 ATS in away games but only 22-18 all in all.

New Orleans' defeat took them down to 14-26 while Minnesota's win pulled them up to 20-20. If the Timberwolves want to win, they will need to focus on stopping the Pelicans' center Jonas Valanciunas, who posted a double-double on 20 points and 17 boards, and small forward Brandon Ingram, who had 22 points in addition to five boards. We'll see whether or not they are up to the challenge.
