Penguins' Patric Hornqvist: Back in action Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hornqvist (hand) will rejoin the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Capitals, Tom Gulitti of reports.

Hornqvist missed the Penguins' first three regular-season contests due to a hand injury that required surgery over the summer, but it didn't cost him too much time. He's slated to skate alongside Conor Sheary and Greg McKegg as part of one of the league's more potent forward groups and will attempt to build on a 44-point 2016-17 campaign.

Penguins' Patric Hornqvist: Game-time decision Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hornqvist (hand) will be a game-time decision against Washington on Wednesday, Sam Kasan of Pens Inside Scoop reports.

Coach Mike Sullivan rarely confirms a player is returning from injury, instead favoring the game-time decision designation. Considering the nature of the Penguins' rivalry with the Capitals -- and the fact that Hornqvist participated in power-play rushes at practice -- he seems likely to suit up Wednesday. The Swede is technically still on the non-roster injured list and will need to be activated prior to puck drop, but Pittsburgh is currently sitting at 22 rostered players, so it won't need to make a corresponding move.

Penguins' Patric Hornqvist: Sporting regular jersey
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hornqvist (hand) ditched the non-contact jersey at practice Monday, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

The Penguins are off until Wednesday, which will give Hornqvist a few days of practice to get up to game speed. A return to action versus the Capitals is certainly not out of the question. With the shuffling of right wingers in Pittsburgh's lineup, it is unclear where the Swede might suit up -- with both the Sidney Crosby line or the third line being viable options.

Penguins' Patric Hornqvist: No-go Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hornqvist (hand) has been ruled out for Saturday's home contest versus the Predators, as he's not taking contact, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

The net-front resident may not be ready for contact, but he's reportedly "shooting two-handed, with authority." By resting Saturday, he'll have until Wednesday's road bout with Capitals before worrying about the possibility of missing another game.

Penguins' Patric Hornqvist: Participates in morning skate
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hornqvist (hand) joined him teammates during the morning skate for the first time this season, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

It's been a rough start to the season for Pittsburgh, and the team could certainly use the help of its gritty right winger. The 30-year-old Sweden native has scored 20-plus goals in each of the last four seasons and would provide a big spark to his team's offense. By skating Saturday morning, there is a possibility that Hornqvist suits up against Nashville for the evening tilt. If not, his next chance will come in Washington on Wednesday.
