JJ Hickson: Signs deal to remain in China
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hickson, who spent the 2016-17 season in China, has agreed to a contract with the Jiangsu Tongxi of the Chinese Basketball Association, freelance reporter David Pick reports.

Hickson once again failed to attract any legitimate NBA suitors for the upcoming season and will spend the upcoming 2017-18 campaign in China. It's possible his name will re-emerge once the CBA season concludes in the spring, though that wasn't the case after the 2016-17 campaign.

JJ Hickson: Headed to China to begin 2016-17 season
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hickson is finalizing a contract with the Fujian Sturgeons of the Chinese Basketball Association, Marc Stein of reports.

Hickson gained little traction with NBA teams in free agency this summer after he underwhelmed across 35 appearances with the Nuggets and Wizards last season, averaging 5.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 0.7 assists across 12.5 minutes per game. While the 27-year-old has occasionally held some fantasy utility across various points in his career for his strong per-minute scoring and rebound totals, the 6-foot-9 big man is quite undersized for the center spot and has long been a liability on the defensive end. He'll look to show improvement in that regard during his stint with Fujian and could end up resurfacing with an NBA squad in the spring when the CBA season has concluded.

Wizards' JJ Hickson: Plays in only 35 games
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hickson provided limited support off the bench during the 2015-16 season, appearing in only 35 games and averaging 5.9 points per contest.

Hickson's role during the 2015-16 season was simply to provide depth. He appeared in 20 games for Denver, starting nine of them due to various injuries to teammates, but only saw action three times after Dec. 8. In February, the Nuggets bought out his contract and he then signed with Washington, but Hickson's role didn't increase as he remained behind Nene and Marcin Gortat on the depth chart. Despite limited minutes this season, the center still shot the ball well, hitting over 50 percent of his shots. Hickson will be an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Wizards' JJ Hickson: Scores nine points, grabs five rebounds Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hickson registered nine points (4-6 FG, 1-2 FT) and five rebounds in six minutes during the Wizards' 102-94 loss to the Warriors on Tuesday.

Hickson has appeared in 10 of 18 contests since joining the Wizards in late February. During eight games in March, he is averaging 5.8 points and 2.5 rebounds in nine minutes as the team's third-string center behind Marcin Gortat and Nene Hilario.

Wizards' JJ Hickson: Inactive Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hickson (Coach's Decision) will be inactive for Friday's game versus the 76ers, Jorge Castillo of the Washington Post reports.

Hickson signed with the Wizards earlier this week, but will not make his debut with the team Friday. His next opportunity to debut will be Sunday versus the Cavaliers. Even when the team makes him active it is unlikely Hickson will reach the rotation unless the Wizards' frontcourt suffers a few injuries.

Wizards' JJ Hickson: Unlikely to debut Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hickson is unlikely to make his Wizards debut Friday against the 76ers, J. Michael of CSN Mid Atlantic reports.

Hickson signed on with the Wizards earlier this week, but he'll likely remain out Friday as he continues to adjust to his new surroundings. The Wizards are off Saturday before hosting Cleveland on Sunday afternoon, and seems quite plausible that Hickson will make his debut in that contest.

JJ Hickson: Signs with Wizards
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hickson signed a contract to play for the Wizards over the rest of the season, CSN Mid-Atlantic's J. Michael reports.

He will join the Wizards on Thursday, and will be in uniform for the game that day against the 76ers. Hickson averaged 6.9 points and 4.4 rebounds in 20 games prior to being waived by the Nuggets this season. He takes the spot on the roster that opened up after Kris Humphries and DeJuan Blair were traded to the Suns for Markieff Morris at the trade deadline. Hickson will likely see a similarly limited role with Washington, barring a barrage of injuries.

JJ Hickson: Expected to sign with Wizards
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hickson is expected to sign with the Wizards within the next few days, David Aldridge of reports.

Hickson was waived by the Nuggets on Friday but won't be out of a job too long as the Wizards have expressed interest in bringing in the 27-year-old forward. He'll bring depth to the Wizards bench, as he will likely serve as an emergency backup after the Wizards traded away Kris Humphries and Dejuan Blair in exchange for Markieff Morris.

JJ Hickson: Waived on Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hickson was waived by the Nuggets on Friday, Shams Charania of The Vertical reports.

As expected, Hickson and the Nuggets parted ways after the 27-year-old made it known that he wants a change of scenery with Denver all but eliminated from playoff contention. Since he was waived prior to March 1, Hickson will be eligible for the playoffs should another team pick him up. Hickson averaging 6.9 points and 4.4 rebounds in 15.3 minutes per game during his 20 games with the Nuggets this season.

Nuggets' JJ Hickson: Expected to be bought out
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hickson is expected to be bought out by the Nuggets, Marc Stein of ESPN reports.

With Denver likely out of contention in the West, Hickson has apparently made it known that he'd prefer a change of scenery. It's unclear exactly what the market would be for the 27-year-old, but he's performed fairly well in limited minutes this season, averaging 6.9 points and 4.4 rebounds while shooting 50.5 percent from the floor in 15..3 minutes per game. Hickson would have to be bought out by March 1 in order to be playoff-eligible.

Nuggets' JJ Hickson: Doesn't play in win over Pistons
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hickson (coach's decision) didn't see the court in Wednesday's 103-92 win over the Pistons.

Hickson has been active lately with Wilson Chandler (hip), Jameer Nelson (wrist), and Darrell Arthur (quad) occupying spots on the inactive list, but those absences haven't cleared the way for more playing time for the 27-year-old. He's made only three appearances in the Nuggets' last 32 games, playing a combined total of 13 minutes.

Nuggets' JJ Hickson: Appears to be over root canal
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hickson, who missed Wednesday's win over the Warriors after undergoing a root canal, didn't play in Friday's contest against the Heat due to a coach's decision.

Hickson has been an infrequent member of coach Michael Malone's rotation since early December, so he likely wouldn't have played Wednesday even if he had been available. It sounds like he's since received clearance to take the court, but he'll likely remain buried on the bench until further notice. He's appeared in just one of the Nuggets' last 18 games.

Nuggets' J.J. Hickson: Will not play Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hickson will not play Wednesday versus the Warriors as he recovers from a root canal, Chris Dempsey of the Denver Post reports.

This will be the 16th missed game out of the last 17 for Hickson. It is unclear how long of a potential absence this will be, but he is likely day-to-day. His next opportunity to play will be Friday versus the Heat.

Nuggets' J.J. Hickson: Hasn't played in eight games
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hickson (coach's decision) didn't play in Saturday's 101-86 loss to the Spurs.

The Nuggets were without four players due to injury Saturday, but Hickson unfortunately finds himself as the 11th man in coach Michael Malone's 10-man rotation. Hickson hasn't played since Dec. 8 and should continue to struggle to see the court outside of blowout wins or losses.

Nuggets' J.J. Hickson: Starts and posts double-double
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hickson started Tuesday and posted a double-double, putting up 10 points (4-10 FG, 2-6 FT), 11 rebounds, and a block in 29 minutes in a loss to the Magic.

Hickson received the start after Joffrey Lauvergne was forced to sit out with an illness, and he really took advantage of it. The 29 minutes were his most since November 11, the 10 points were his most since November 24, and the 11 rebounds were his most since November 9. It remains to be seen if Hickson will play this much once Lauvergne returns, but this strong performance certainly doesn't hurt his case for more playing time.

Nuggets' J.J. Hickson: In the starting lineup Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hickson will start at center in Tuesday's game against the Magic, Chris Dempsey of the Denver Post reports.

Joffrey Lauvergne has recently been starting at center, but since he's dealing with an illness, Hickson will take his spot. With Lauvergne's illness, Hickson will likely see a bump in his overall minutes, although he should move back into a bench role as soon as Lauvergne is back to full health. So far this season, Hickson is averaging 7.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.0 assist over 16 minutes per game.

Nuggets' J.J. Hickson: Starts second half Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hickson started the second half at center Wednesday against the Bulls.

Hickson was able to start the second half of Wednesday's tilt although he didn't record any minutes for the Nuggets' last two games against Milwaukee and Dallas. The 27-year-old projected five points, six rebounds, three assists, and a steal within 16 minutes. The center could continue to see similar numbers in the future, however, he's still battling for minutes with fellow centers Joffrey Lauvergne and Nikola Jokic.

Nuggets' J.J. Hickson: Will come off the bench Friday versus Suns
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hickson will come off the bench Friday versus Suns, Jason Kosmicki of the Denver Nuggets reports.

Hickson has been replaced in the starting lineup by Nikola Jokic, who is coming off his best game of the season. It remains to be seen if this is a permanent switch to the staring lineup while Jusuf Nurkic is out.

Nuggets' J.J. Hickson: Scores six in Wednesday's tilt
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hickson scored six points (2-10 FG, 2-2 FT) and grabbed seven rebounds in 16 minutes in Wednesday's loss to San Antonio.

Hickson has started as of late for Denver but has played less than 20 minutes per game in the Nuggets past three games. The forward only plays when Denver chooses to go with a small ball lineup, and he hasn't put up consistent numbers or minutes this season. He's an inconsistent player which makes it a risky decision to put him in a fantasy lineup.

Nuggets' J.J. Hickson: Likely to stick in starting lineup for two more games
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hickson will likely remain in the starting lineup at center for at least two more games, as Joffrey Lauvergne (back) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Bucks and Friday's game against the Rockets, Chris Dempsey of the Denver Post reports.

Lauvergne could be ready to play when the Nuggets head to Phoenix on Sunday, but in the meantime, the center spot should belong to Hickson, especially while Nikola Jokic also remains limited by a lower-back strain. Though the Nuggets have shown a propensity for using a small-ball lineup on occasion during Lauvergne's absence that features Kenneth Faried at center, the team may not be afforded that luxury with matchups against Greg Monroe and Dwight Howard on the docket. As a result, look for Hickson to log heavy minutes in both contests, making him a reasonable target in daily formats. He's coming off his best game of the season Monday against the Trail Blazers, when he posted 19 points (7-11 FG, 5-11 FT) and 13 boards over 30 minutes.
