Roy Hibbert: Set to retire
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hibbert announced Tuesday that he'll retire from the NBA, Ashish Mathur of Amico Hoops reports.

Hibbert stated "it's just time to move on" and "I'm good on it right now." The 31-year-old big man last played in the NBA during the 2016-2017 season for the Nuggets, although he spent the majority of his playing career with the Pacers (five seasons).

Nuggets' Roy Hibbert: Will make debut with Nuggets on Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hibbert will be active and available to play on Sunday versus the Grizzlies, Chris Dempsey of Altitude Sports reports.

Hibbert was dealt from the Bucks to the Nuggets just prior to the trade deadline, but was held out Friday, as the team opted to give him some extra time to get settled in. However, Hibbert is fully expected to be available Sunday and should operate as the Nuggets third option at center. With Nikola Jokic and Mason Plumlee ahead of him on the depth chart, Hibbert will likely play just a minor role off the bench in Denver.

Nuggets' Roy Hibbert: Unavailable Friday versus Nets
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hibbert (coach's decision) will not be available for Friday's game against the Nets, Chris Dempsey of Altitude Sports reports.

Hibbert, who was traded to the Nuggets on Thursday, apparently is dealing with transportation issues and won't be in Denver until late Friday night. His next chance to debut with his new team will come Sunday against the Grizzlies.

Nuggets' Roy Hibbert: Questionable to play Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hibbert (coach's decision) is listed as questionable to play in Friday's game against the Nets, Harrison Wind of BSN Denver reports.

Hibbert was traded from the Bucks to the Nuggets Thursday but will remain a third option in the rotation behind starter Nikola Jokic and backup Mason Plumlee in Denver. Even if Hibbert is made active Friday night, he will likely remain on the bench, and his status won't have any impact on the team's regular rotation. Hibbert only becomes a semi-intriguing fantasy option this season if either Jokic or Plumlee suffer from injury, and even in that case, his impact would likely remain limited.

Nuggets' Roy Hibbert: Traded to Nuggets
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hibbert will be traded from the Bucks to the Nuggets on Thursday in exchange for a protected second-round pick, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports.

Hibbert will be making a stop to his third destination this season, after being traded from the Hornets to the Bucks earlier in February. He was buried on the depth chart for the Bucks and had yet to see the floor, although by moving to Denver, a huge bump in minutes shouldn't be expected. Hibbert will be nothing more than a third option behind Nikola Jokic and Mason Plumlee, which should render him useless in the majority of fantasy leagues. This deal was likely more about the salary cap situation than anything.

Bucks' Roy Hibbert: Inactive for Monday's win
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hibbert (coach's decision) was inactive for Monday's 102-89 win over the Pistons.

HIbbert was active for the Bucks' previous game Saturday against the Pacers, but didn't see the court against his former team. With Khris Middleton returning to action Monday following a one-game absence due to rest, it looks like Hibbert, who has yet to play since being acquired from the Hornets on Feb. 2, will occupy one of the Bucks' two inactive slots in most games. He'll be a free agent this summer and the Bucks evidently don't view him as part of their future plans.

Bucks' Roy Hibbert: Unlikely to make debut until next week
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Bucks coach Jason Kidd said that Hibbert won't be available for Friday's game against the Nuggets and is likely to be a healthy inactive for Saturday's game against the Suns, Charles F. Gardner of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Hibbert and fellow big man Spencer Hawes, who were both acquired Thursday from the Hornets in exchange for Miles Plumlee, still need to pass their physicals and aren't expected to join the Bucks until Saturday, and it seems Kidd is reluctant to use either player before they have an opportunity to practice with the team. Even without the services of Hibbert and Hawes for the next two games, the Bucks won't be short on center help with John Henson, Greg Monroe and Thon Maker still populating the depth chart. It may take several games for Kidd's center rotation to crystallize, but the existing depth along with Hibbert's declining performance in recent seasons and expiring contract could keep him out of the mix most nights.

Bucks' Roy Hibbert: Traded to Milwaukee
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hibbert and Spencer Hawes will be traded to the Bucks on Thursday, in exchange for Miles Plumlee, C.F. Gardner of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

After starting the season as Cody Zeller's backup at center, Hibbert appeared to have been jumped by Spencer Hawes in the pecking order, as Hawes was seeing the bigger minutes load. On the season, Hibbert had posted averages of just 5.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and one block across 16.0 minutes per game. In coming to Milwaukee, Hibbert's value is only expected to decrease further, as the Bucks are crowded at the position with the likes of Greg Monroe and John Henson already available, while Thon Maker has also recently seen time at center. Spencer Hawes will be in the fold as well, so it's hard to see Hibbert fielding consistent minutes. The situation should be monitored moving forward in order to see how the Bucks end up distributing the playing time.

Hornets' Roy Hibbert: To come off the bench Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hibbert will come off the bench for Wednesday's matchup with the Warriors.

Hibbert has started the last four games in place of Cody Zeller (quad), and while we've yet to receive word on Zeller's availability, the Hornets have announced they're going to start Spencer Hawes at center Wednesday. Hawes was seeing the bulk of the minutes at center anyway, so Hibbert was already off the fantasy radar in all but the deepest of leagues. Once Zeller is back, Hibbert could see his role decline further.

Hornets' Roy Hibbert: Doesn't do much in start
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hibbert posted six points (2-3 FG, 2-2 FT) with four rebounds across 17 minutes in Wednesday's 113-103 loss against the Warriors.

Hibbert was starting in place of the injured Cody Zeller (quadriceps), but Spencer Hawes ended up logging more minutes off the bench and posting way better statistics. If Zeller is forced to miss additional time, Hawes, not Hibbert, is the way to go as a short-term seasonal fantasy solution and DFS value play.

Hornets' Roy Hibbert: Will start at center Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hibbert will start at center for Wednesday's game against the Warriors.

Cody Zeller is dealing with a quad injury and has been ruled out for Wednesday's contest, so the Hornets are opting to go with Hibbert as their starting center against the Warriors. With Zeller out, Hibbert should see a slight bump in minutes, although it wouldn't be surprising if Spencer Hawes ended up being the bigger beneficiary Wednesday.

Hornets' Roy Hibbert: Scores season-high 16 points Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hibbert posted 16 points (7-8 FG, 2-2 FT), six rebounds and two blocks across 22 minutes in Wednesday's 107-85 win over the Blazers.

Hibbert's 16 points were a season-high and just the third time he's eclipsed 10 points since Dec. 1. Suffice to say, Hibbert is not a relevant fantasy player in pretty much any format.

Hornets' Roy Hibbert: Will start at center Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hibbert will start at center for Tuesday's game against the Rockets.

After a three-game stint in the starting lineup, Hibbert was back in a bench role Saturday against the Spurs, as Cody Zeller had finally passed through the league-mandated concussion protocol. However, Zeller is now dealing with an illness and will yet again be on the sidelines, giving Hibbert another opportunity to work with the top unit. Hibbert will still be limited to minutes in the high-teens-to-low-20's despite the promotion, with Spencer Hawes the more likely candidate to see a bigger role than usual.

Hornets' Roy Hibbert: Scores 10 points in return to bench role
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hibbert came off the bench and posted 10 points (4-6 FG, 2-2 FT) and five rebounds across 15 minutes during Saturday's 102-85 loss to the Spurs.

After a three-game run as the starting center, Hibbert moved back to his customary bench role with Cody Zeller (concussion) returning to action. Hibbert didn't see a drastic reduction in playing time while heading back to the second unit, and the 10-point effort marked his first double-digit scoring performance since Dec. 1. Hibbert's playing time should continue to sit around 15-to-20 minutes per game, limiting his chances of hitting double figures in scoring with much frequency.

January 2, 2017 06:55 PM
Hornets' Roy Hibbert: Will start Monday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hibbert is drawing a spot start at center in Monday's tilt verus the Bulls.

With Cody Zeller sidelined, Hibbert will draw his sixth start of the season. He is averaging 6.2 points, 3.2 boards, 1.0 assists, and 1.0 blocks in just 16.2 minutes as a starter this season. While he will likely push the 20 minute mark, the big man still holds little upside in this contest.

Hornets' Roy Hibbert: Grabs eight rebounds in return to bench
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hibbert came off the bench and produced four points (1-5 FG, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds and one block across 21 minutes in Friday's 113-111 overtime loss to the Knicks.

After starting the previous three games at center, Hibbert settled back into his usual reserve role with Cody Zeller (shoulder) returning to action. Though the two big men roughly ended up splitting the minutes at the position Friday, it's expected that Zeller will dominate the playing time once he puts the shoulder issue further in the rear-view mirror. Hibbert doesn't offer much fantasy intrigue while he remains a member of the second unit, even in most deeper formats.

Hornets' Roy Hibbert: Starting Monday, will have minutes capped
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hibbert will make a second straight start at center Monday against Memphis but will be limited to about 18 minutes, Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer reports.

With Cody Zeller (shoulder) still sidelined, Hibbert will again start at center but will have his minutes monitored, likely as a result of a troublesome knee that bothered him earlier in the month. In Saturday's loss to the Pelicans, Hibbert played only 17 minutes, while Frank Kaminsky saw 36 minutes off the bench. Expect a similar situation Monday, with Spencer Hawes also in line for additional playing time.

Hornets' Roy Hibbert: Will start Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hibbert will draw his third start of the season in Saturday's matchup against the Pelicans, Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer reports.

Hibbert started the first two games of the season before missing the next five with a knee injury. He has returned to a reserve role the previous four games while playing 14 minutes per contest. While he is getting the stat due to Cody Zeller's absence, Hibbert is not expected to exceed 16 minutes of playing time. Frank Kaminsky should presumably see an increased workload off the bench.

November 19, 2016 09:12 AM
Hornets' Roy Hibbert: Settling into backup role at center
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

HIbbert played 17 minutes in Friday's 100-96 win over the Hawks, producing one point (0-1 FG, 1-2 FT) and three rebounds.

The Hornets initially planned to restrict HIbbert's playing time upon his return from a sore knee last week, and even though he's endured no setbacks in his first four games back, it appears that a sub-20-minute role is the new reality for the center. The 17 minutes he received Friday were Hibbert's most in the four games, as Cody Zeller seems to have fully gained the confidence of coach Steve Clifford as the team's starting center. Hibbert can probably be dropped in most formats at this point.

Hornets' Roy Hibbert: Will be restricted Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hibbert (knee) will have his minutes restricted during Sunday's game against the Cavaliers, Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer reports.

Hibbert continues to deal with soreness in his knee, but is slated to play through the pain in limited fashion. Cody Zeller figures to start and see a majority of the minutes at center.
