Jason Thompson: Signs with Shanghai
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Thompson agreed to a contract Tuesday with the Chinese Basketball Associations's Shanghai Sharks, Emiliano Carchia of Sportando.com reports.

A 2008 first-round pick of the Kings, Thompson last appeared in the NBA in the 2015-16 season. Since then, Thompson has seen action in China, Turkey and Spain. In his return to China, he'll link up with another former NBA player in Jimmer Fredette, one of the Sharks' primary playmakers.

Jason Thompson: Signs contract in China
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Thompson signed a contract Monday with Shandong of the Chinese Basketball Association, international basketball writer David Pick reports.

Thompson spent his 2015 campaign split between the Warriors and Raptors, combining to play in 47 games, while averaging just 3.1 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.6 assists over 10 minutes per game. After receiving minimal interest from NBA teams this offseason, the 30-year-old will head overseas to China. It remains to be seen whether his NBA career is over, but there's a chance he tries to latch on with a contender once the CBA season comes to a close.

Raptors' Jason Thompson: Scores two points in first appearance of series
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Thompson contributed two points (1-1 FG) and three rebounds over 10 minutes in Wednesday's 99-91 Game 5 win over the Heat.

It was the first appearance of the series for Thompson, who ended up replacing Lucas Nogueira in the Raptors rotation as the backup center behind Bismack Biyombo. Jonas Valanciunas (ankle) is slated to miss the rest of the series, so Thompson could be asked to assume some light minutes in the rotation until Valanciunas is cleared to return.

Raptors' Jason Thompson: Doesn't play in Game 1 loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Thompson (coach's decision) didn't play in Tuesday's 102-96 overtime loss to the Heat in Game 1 of the series.

After playing in each of the Raptors' final 11 games to end the regular season, Thompson has been the victim of coach Dwane Casey tightening his rotation in the playoffs. Thompson has appeared in just three of the Raptors' eight postseason games to date, logging no more than three minutes in any outing.

Raptors' Jason Thompson: Will start Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Thompson will draw the start in Toronto's season finale versus the Nets.

Thompson will start at the power forward Wednesday. He should see a relatively high workload given the team is resting a large portion of their regular rotational players.

Raptors' Jason Thompson: Will start against Knicks on Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Thompson will get the start Sunday against the Knicks.

With Luis Scola sitting again, Thompson will start and have his workload increased. In his last start on Apr. 8, the 6-11 forward gathered eight points and six rebounds, adding an assist, a block and a steal in 22 minutes.

Raptors' Jason Thompson: Will start Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Thompson will draw the start in Friday's tilt with the Pacers.

Thompson is grabbing the start due to the Raptors opting to rest Luis Scola. Toronto is playing in second half of a back-to-back, and have chosen to rest a few starters. Thompson should benefit from his expected increased workload, but expect Scola to return to action Sunday against the Knicks.

Raptors' Jason Thompson: Will start Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Thompson will draw the rare start in Wednesday's matchup with the Hawks, Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports reports.

Luis Scola is sitting this one out with a sore knee, and Thompson will benefit from his absence. Thompson has averaged 6.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in two other starts this season. Scola is not expected to miss an extended amount of time, so Thompson will only be intriguing in DFS formats.

Raptors' Jason Thompson: Grabs 10 rebounds Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Thompson totaled six points (3-5 FG, 0-1 FT), 10 rebounds, one assist, and one block in 24 minutes during the Raptors' 91-79 loss to the Celtics on Wednesday.

Thompson has grabbed 10 rebounds in consecutive contests while Patrick Patterson (ankle) has been sidelined. Through eight games with the Raptors, Thompson is averaging 5.1 points and 5.3 rebounds in 19 minutes, but he has taken on an increased role lately, playing 24 minutes or more in three straight matchups.

Raptors' Jason Thompson: Moves into starting five Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Thompson will start Tuesday against the Nets.

Thompson gets the start at power forward Tuesday with Luis Scola making his way to the bench. The veteran could be in store for added minutes, but Scola, Patrick Patterson, and James Johnson are also in line to split time at power forward, likely limiting the potential for Thompson to see significant time on the court despite getting the starting nod.

Raptors' Jason Thompson: Plays one minute in Raptors' debut Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Thompson was the first Raptor off the bench Friday, but played just one minute.

It wasn't exactly an auspicious debut for Thompson with his new club, but he could work his way into more significant court time very quickly after he's gotten up to speed. Starting power forward Luis Scola failed to score a point and pulled down just one rebound in 15 minutes Friday, so there will be opportunities for Thompson once coach Dwane Casey is a little more comfortable using him.

Raptors' Jason Thompson: Available to play Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Thompson will be available to come off the bench in Wednesday's game against the Jazz.

Thompson was signed by the Raptors on Monday and has yet to practice with the team. That being said he is active and may see a few minutes off the bench. Don't expect him to see any significant time in his first game with the team.

Raptors' Jason Thompson: To be signed by the Raptors
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Thompson will sign a contract with the Raptors, Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports reports.

The Raptors opened up a spot for Thompson by waiving 2013 No. 1 overall pick Anthony Bennett. Thompson, who previously averaged 2.1 points and 1.9 rebounds over 6.4 minutes in his 28 appearances with Warriors this season before he was released last week, figures to come off the bench for his new team and should offer the Raptors quality defense and offensive rebounding from the power forward spot.

Warriors' Jason Thompson: Released to make room for Varejao
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Thompson has been released by the Warriors to make room for Anderson Varejao on the roster, Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports reports.

Averaging 2.1 points and 1.9 rebounds over just 6.4 minutes in 28 appearances, Thompson was the obvious candidate to be released once it became clear that the Warriors were pursuing Varejao. There should be some interest in Thompson around the league, as he averaged at least 23 minutes and six rebounds in each of his previous seven NBA seasons, albeit while playing for Sacramento teams that were utterly lacking in talent. Thompson was never a good fit for the Warriors, with the trade to acquire him primarily motivated by the team's desire to get rid of David Lee.

Warriors' Jason Thompson: Mired in limited role
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Thompson has seen only a limited role off the bench for Golden State through the first half of the season.

Thompson came over from Philadelphia this summer after spending the first seven years of his career in Sacramento. He was a regular starter for the Kings, but the 29-year-old has taken on a drastically reduced role for the Warriors, appearing in only 26 games and averaging 6.6 minutes per game on the season. Even with Festus Ezeli (knee) out for several weeks, Thompson's role is not likely to change, barring another injury to the likes of Andrew Bogut or Marreese Speights.

Warriors' Jason Thompson: Will return to the bench Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Thompson will return to the bench Thursday versus the Lakers, Monte Poole of Comcast Sports Net reports.

Thompson will return to his reserve role Thursday due to Draymond Green's return to the starting lineup. Thompson drew a rare start Wednesday, but will likely resume his usual role out of the rotation Thursday.

Warriors' Jason Thompson: Thirteen minutes in rare start
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Thompson made his first start of the season, scoring four points (1-4 FG, 2-2 FT) with four rebounds in 13 minutes in Wednesday night's loss to Denver.

Warriors interim head coach Luke Walton made Draymond Green a healthy scratch, so Thompson got the spot start. Green leads the Warriors in minutes per game, so Walton used the first of a back-to-back set to get Green some rest. We expect Green to be active Thursday against the Lakers, so Thompson is expected to return to a minimal role off the bench.

Warriors' Jason Thompson: Will start Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Thompson will draw his first start of the season Wednesday versus the Nuggets, Diamond Leung of the Bay Area News Group reports.

Thompson will benefit from Draymond Green's absence Wednesday and draw his first start of the year. Green is out simply to rest, and could potentially miss Thursday's game as well. Thompson has not gotten much run this year, averaging 2.2 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 0.7 assists in 6 minutes per game.

Warriors' Jason Thompson: Doesn't play Monday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Thompson (coach's decision) didn't play in Monday's 111-103 win over the Heat.

Thompson hasn't been called upon off the bench in the Warriors' last three games, and seems to be behind Draymond Green, Andrew Bogut, Festus Ezeli, Marreese Speights, and James McAdoo in the team's rotation of big men. On the season, Thompson has appeared in less than half (18) of the Warriors' 38 games.
