Rockets' James Harden: Signs extension with Rockets through 2022-23
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Harden signed an extension with the Rockets on Saturday, keeping him under contract through the 2022-23 season.

The extension will be worth a staggering $228 million, which starts in the 2019-20 season at a salary of $37.8 million, according to Adrian Wojnarowski and Bobby Marks of ESPN. The Beard was one of the best players in the NBA last season, making a legitimate run at the MVP award. In 2016-17, he averaged 29.1 points (44.0 percent from the field and 34.7 percent from three), 11.2 assists, 8.1 rebounds and 1.5 steals across 36.4 minutes per game. The extension comes about two weeks after the Rockets traded for Chris Paul, who has one year left on his deal. This way, if Houston is unable to retain Paul, they will have at least locked up Harden for the long haul, which should keep them competitive in any climate.

Rockets' James Harden: Ends season with disappointing performance
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Harden scored 10 points (2-11 FG, 2-9 3Pt, 4-6 FT) and added seven assists, three rebounds, one steal and one assist in 37 minutes during Thursday's 114-75 Game 6 loss to the Spurs.

After one of the better seasons in the history of the league, Harden went out with wimper. He matched his season low in points and field goals made, and got to the free-throw line barely half the rate of his season average. The Rockets are likely to look very similar next season, as Nene Hilario is the only rotation player who is not already under contract for next season. With a similar supporting cast, the will-be-28-year-old Harden will look to build off this season's success.

Rockets' James Harden: Triple-doubles in Game 5 loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Harden tallied 33 points (11-24 FG, 4-15 3Pt, 7-8 FT), 10 rebounds, 10 assists, one steal, one block and nine turnovers across 43 minutes during a 110-107 overtime loss to the Spurs on Tuesday.

Harden racked up his first triple-double of these playoffs in the overtime loss, but it wasn't all good, as he struggled offensively in the late stages and committed nine turnovers. He continued to chuck up bricks from beyond the arc, as he is now shooting 32.1 percent from three-point land in this series. Look for Harden to play well in Game 6 with the team's season on the line.

Rockets' James Harden: Leads way with double-double in Game 4
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Harden managed 28 points (10-18 FG, 4-11 3Pt, 4-6 FT), 12 assists, five rebounds and two steals over 35 minutes during Sunday's 125-104 win over the Spurs in Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals.

The perennial All-Star was key in the Rockets picking up the pace against the Spurs and notching the blowout victory to even the series. Following a 3-for-17 from the floor in Game 2, Harden has bounced back to shoot 52.2 percent (24-for-46) over the subsequent two games. He's now averaging 26.0 points, 10.3 assists and 3.8 rebounds in the series, along with 2.8 steals on the strength of having recorded multiple thefts in each game. He'll undoubtedly be pivotal to Houston's attempts to take Game 5 on Tuesday in San Antonio.

Rockets' James Harden: Scores 43 in loss Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Harden dropped 43 points (14-28 FG, 5-13 3Pt, 10-11 FT) while adding five assists, three steals and two rebounds across 40 minutes in Friday's 103-92 loss to the Spurs in Game 3.

Harden started sluggishly, but started hitting shots in the second quarter and carried it over into the second half. He had nearly half of the team's points on the night as The Beard had minimal help from the rest of his teammates. After being held in check on offense in Games 2 and 3, the Rockets will need to shoot better in Game 4 to knot the series up at two games apiece.
