Mitrou-Long (illness) returned to the starting lineup Tuesday, finishing the contest with 17 points (8-13 FG, 1-4 3Pt), three rebounds, three assists and a block.
Mitrou-Long actually fouled out, so it's quite possible the point guard could have played more than 29 minutes had it not been for foul trouble. One of the more balanced offenses in the G League, Mitrou-Long likely won't put up ridiculous numbers on a game-to-game basis, but is poised to exceed his 2017-18 numbers despite playing less minutes.
Mitrou-Long (illness) did not play in Sunday's loss to the Blue.
Given Mitrou-Long was listed out with an illness, it's fair to suspect the two-way player will be back for the Tuesday contest against the Hustle.
Mitrou-Long tallied 39 points (11-21 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 13-13 FT), five assists, three rebounds, and two blocks in the win Monday over Raptors 905.
The two-way player scored a season-high in points with the Stars, continuing to build upon an impressive second G League season which has seen the guard average 19.0 points, 5.0 assists and 4.7 rebounds in 27 games with the team.
Mitrou-Long has dressed for the majority of the Jazz's games in January with at least four players frequently sitting out due to injury. Though fellow guards Ricky Rubio, Dante Exum, Raul Neto and Grayson Allen have been among the wounded players, their absences haven't opened up more than eight minutes for Nitrou-Long in any of his appearances. Playing time will only become more difficult to come by for the second-year player once the Jets reclaim full health in the backcourt.
One of a pair of two-way players for the Jazz, Mitrou-Long has played almost exclusively at with the G League's Salt Lake City Stars this season. His appearance Saturday was just his second with the Jazz in 2018-19 and likely wouldn't have happened had Utah not turned the game into a runaway victory. Expect the Iowa State product to head back to the G League in the near future.
