Motley concluded the regular season in a strong way, scoring past the 20-point mark in two of his final three games while posting one double-double. The former Baylor Bear played most his rookie season in the G League but did see action in 11 Mavericks' games where he averaged 8.7 points and 4.5 rebounds.
Motley finished with just four points (2-6 FG), five rebounds and one assist in 16 minutes during Sunday's 109-97 loss to Philadelphia.
After a string of strong performances, Motley fell back to earth in just 16 minutes on Sunday. He has been in and out of the rotation over the past month or so but had managed to have himself a nice couple of performances prior to this one. The Mavericks have just one regular season game remaining against the Phoenix Suns, meaning he could very well turn things around again.
Motley led all in-game scorers Friday on his way to a career high 26 points on 57.9 percent shooting. The former Baylor standout has now strung together three consecutive double figure scoring outings and will look to keep it going when Dallas travels to Philadelphia on Sunday.
Motley registered 14 points (6-11 FG, 2-4 FT), eight rebounds, one assist and one steal across 41 minutes during a 105-100 loss to the Magic on Wednesday.
Motley played a whopping 41 minutes and scored 14 points during Wednesday's loss, both of which were season highs. He benefited from the team's numerous injuries and players being rested. If the team continues to rest players, Motley could see another big workload in Friday's game.
The Mavericks are set to be without the likes of Dirk Nowitzki (ankle), Harrison Barnes (rest), Dwight Powell (knee), Salah Mejri (knee) and Nerlens Noel (suspension) in the frontcourt, so Motley will get the call to jump into the starting five. At 6-foot-9, Motely will be apart of a small-ball lineup for the Mavericks, but considering the lack of healthy bodies, he should be in line for 30-plus minutes. Look for Motley to play his most extensive action of the season, which could give him some punt-play potential for Wednesday's DFS slate.
