Chealey (undisclosed) did not play in Tuesday's loss to Agua Caliente.
The rookie has certainly asserted himself well in the G League, averaging 16.3 points, 5.4 assists and 3.0 rebounds in 43 games with the Swarm. Given the ambiguity of the injury designation, it's likely this isn't a serious matter.
Chealey piled on 27 points (6-15 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 14-14 FT), five assists and two steals in the loss Wednesday to the Charge.
Chealey was essentially the only consistent presence for the Swarm on a night where the next highest scorer from Greensboro registered 15 points. The 23-year-old has bounced between the NBA and G League for much of the season, and figures to be an interchangeable two-way player for the duration of the 2018-19 campaign.
Chealey finished with 25 points (9-24 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 5-6 FT), five rebounds, nine assists and four steals across 39 minutes Saturday against Erie.
Chealey fell just short of a double-double, as he dished out nine assists on the way to a 112-110 victory. He continues to serve as a valuable member of the Swarm this season and is averaging 15.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.1 steals through 34 contests.
Chealey was assigned to the Greensboro Swarm of the G League on Thursday.
Chealey made his NBA debut Wednesday against the Celtics, tallying two points and one assist across eight minutes of action. He'll return to the G League until he's needed again by the Hornets as depth. Across 30 games with the Swarm, Chealey is averaging 16.0 points, 5.5 assists and 3.8 rebounds in 30.7 minutes.
The Hornets recalled Chealey from the G League's Greensboro Swarm on Sunday.
Chealey will provide the Hornets will some extra backcourt insurance Monday against the Knicks in the event Kemba Walker isn't able to play through the neck injury he sustained late in Friday's loss to the Bucks. Even if Walker remains sidelined, it wouldn't guarantee Chealey a spot in the rotation, as Tony Parker, Devonte' Graham and Malik Monk could capably fill the minutes at point guard.
Chealey put up 24 points (7-15 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 7-10 FT) and recorded eight rebounds along with five assists and a steal over 35 minutes Saturday against Delaware.
Chealey checked in as his squad's leading scorer on the day, knocking down three shots from beyond the arc and nearing a double-double in a 108-86 loss at home. The 23-year-old guard has enjoyed success during his first season in the G League, putting up 16.0 points along with 4.2 boards and 5.6 assists per game over 23 contests.
Chealey scored 19 points to go along with five assists and a rebound during the loss Wednesday to Austin.
Chealey did go 8-of-12 from the field, but he wasn't much of a factor outside of scoring. He'll attempt to build upon those numbers in contests against the Bayhawks and Raptors 905 later this week.
Chealey's contract was converted to a two-way on Saturday, Clevis Murray of The Athletic reports.
Though Chealey only played 19 preseason minutes, he did enough to impress the Charlotte organization. In those minutes, he totaled 13 points, three assists and one rebound. Notably, he got to the free-throw line for six attempts, draining five. He also didn't miss a field-goal attempt.
