Iwundu will come off the bench Wednesday against the Grizzlies, John Denton of OrlandoMagic.com reports.
With Jonathan Isaac (ankle) entering the starting five, Iwundu will come off the pine. Through three preseason contests, Iwundu is averaging 5.0 points and 2.0 rebounds across 20.8 minutes.
Iwundu is starting in place of the injured Jonathan Isaac (ankle) for Friday's matchup against Flamengo.
Iwundu had a solid role with Orlando last season. He appeared in 62 games, seeing 16.5 minutes per contest. He wasn't especially productive, however, averaging 3.7 points and 2.2 rebounds. The preseason will be a time for Iwundu to get more comfortable.
Iwundu won't play during Friday's summer league finale, Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel reports.
Iwundu isn't reportedly dealing with an injury, so we'll have to assume he's simply getting the final summer league game off. He averaged 9.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals in four games.
Iwundu posted 11 points (5-13 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), nine rebounds and an assist across 26 minutes in Thursday's 75-70 Summer League playoff loss to the Jazz.
The 22-year-old drew the start in lieu of Jonathan Isaac on Thursday and had a decent outing. Iwundu played in 62 games for the MAgic last season and emerged as a valuable replacement when Aaron Gordon's injuries kept him off the court. In his sophomore season, Iwundu is expected to fill the same role he played as a rookie. He has excellent instincts as a defender but isn't much of a scoring threat. He will be a key piece of Orlando's third unit.
The second-year wing propped up his line with his perfect showing from the charity stripe, as his shooting from the field left plenty to be desired. Iwundu averaged 16.5 minutes across 62 games during his rookie campaign, but he averaged a modest 3.7 points and 2.2 rebounds. Iwundu will look to gain some valuable seasoning in Las Vegas in the hopes of expanded opportunity during the coming season.
