Bates-Diop finished with 18 points (7-12 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, two steals, two blocks, and one assist in 35 minutes during Sunday's 103-92 victory over the Knicks.
Bates-Diop played a team-high 35 minutes Sunday, putting up career-high numbers in basically every category. The Timberwolves were without three of their starters which meant enlarged roles for a number of fringe guys. Bates-Diop has put together back-to-back games of at least 12 points and has perhaps played himself into a slightly larger role, even when the starters return to action. He is not worth picking up yet but owners in deep formats should keep an eye on the injury report moving forward.
Bates-Diop contributed 12 points (5-12 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, two assists, and one steal in 37 minutes during Saturday's 135-130 overtime win against the Wizards.
Bates-Diop drew his first career start with Robert Covington (knee), Andrew Wiggins (thigh), and Luol Deng (Achilles) all sidelined, and the rookie forward matched Karl-Anthony Towns (knee) for the team high in minutes. Moreover, Bates-Diop managed career highs in scoring, assists, and minutes, and could be in line for another heavy load of playing time during Sunday's bout with a Knicks team that sports one of the league's worst defenses.
Bates-Diop will start Saturday's contest against the Wizards.
With Andrew Wiggins (thigh) out, Bates-Diop will make his first career start. Over the past three games, he's averaging 5.3 points and 2.3 rebounds across 18.0 minutes.
Bates-Diop compiled eight points (4-7 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 0-1 FT), five rebounds, and one block in 26 minutes during Sunday's 135-121 loss to the Wizards.
Bates-Diop played a career-high 26 minutes Sunday, matching his career best with eight points. This was an ugly loss for the Timberwolves and head coach Ryan Saunders went deep in his rotation to try and find something. Bates-Diop could have a somewhat fantasy friendly game if he ever manages to carve out a sizeable role. As of right now he has no value and can be left on the waivers.
Bates-Diop was recalled from the G League's Iowa Wolves on Thursday.
Bates-Diop has been with Iowa for the past week, but he'll be in town for the Timberwolves' practice on Thursday. He has played 16 G League games this season and is averaging 17.8 points and 8.9 rebounds across nearly 37 minutes per game with Iowa.
