Jeffries has started in each of Houston's last three games and has scored in double digits in the last two -- this 17-point output left the Tulsa product just one point away from tying his season-high mark. Jeffries tallied five points (2-10 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), six rebounds, three assists and two steals during Wednesday's loss to the 76ers.
Jeffries logged his third start of the season but couldn't reward coach Stephen Silas for the starting nod on the offensive end. The forward struggled mightily from the floor, shooting just 20 percent. However, Jeffries made up for it defensively to some degree with the two steals. Across his past three games, Jeffries has totaled 21 points and 16 rebounds.
The Rockets claimed Jeffries off waivers Monday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Jeffries was cut loose by the Kings over the weekend, and the Rockets pounced on the opportunity to add the 23-year-old wing, who is under contract through the 2021-22 season. After missing a chunk of time to begin the season due to an ankle injury, Jeffries has been a part of the regular rotation over the last two weeks, playing double-digit minutes in eight consecutive games. Save for an 18-point, six-rebound, one-steal, one-block effort in 40 minutes against the Bucks last week, Jeffries has not been fantasy-relevant, however.
Jeffries will come off the bench Tuesday at Brooklyn, James Ham of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
The 23-year-old received the start Sunday and put up 18 points, six rebounds, two assists and one steal, but he'll return to the bench with Harrison Barnes (foot) rejoining the lineup. Jeffries figures to return to his minor role as a reserve for the Kings.
