Collinsworth accumulated 14 points (5-10 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 3-7 FT), 10 rebounds, two assists and a steal across 21 minutes during Wednesday's 95-83 summer league loss to the Bulls.
Collinsworth, despite being waived by the Mavericks, has remained on the summer league team. He appeared in 32 games for Dallas last season, averaging 3.2 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists across 15.0 minutes. Prior to Wednesday's action, he had been struggling scoring, totaling seven points across 51 minutes.
Collinsworth was released by the Mavericks on Friday, Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports reports.
Collinsworth saw rotational run with the Mavs after being signed in February of last season, garnering 15.0 minutes per game across his 32 appearances. He averaged 3.2 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists, though shot worse than 40 percent from the field.
Collinsworth labored over 44 minutes Tuesday against the Suns for 10 points (4-13 FG, 2-4 FT, 0-2 3Pt), 11 rebounds and eight assists.
The Mavericks used Collinsworth in a limited role this season even though they entered rebuilding mode early on in the year. This performance, as well as a similar all-around showing last week, may help Collinsworth land a deal this summer when he will be an unrestricted free agent.
Collinsworth will start at point guard for Tuesday's regular-season finale against the Suns, Bobby Karalla of Mavs.com reports.
The Mavericks are set to be without a whopping nine players Tuesday, including starting point guard Dennis Smith (knee). That allows Collinsworth to pick up the start and he should be in line for a huge workload, especially considering the Mavericks are also planning on playing fellow guard Yogi Ferell sparingly. With Collinsworth easily expected to surpass 30 minutes, he'll have some viability for DFS purposes Tuesday. The last time he saw more than 30 minutes came April 4 against the Magic and Collinsworth finished that contest with 13 points, nine rebounds, six assists and a steal.
Collinsworth tallied 13 points (5-13 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 3-4 FT), nine rebounds, six assists and one steal across 35 minutes during a 105-100 loss to the Magic on Wednesday.
Collinsworth had an excellent all-around game Wednesday out of nowhere. He benefited from the team resting players and numerous players suffering injuries as he scored a season-high 13 points. Since J.J. Barea (oblique) left with an injury Wednesday and has been ruled out for the rest of the season, Collinsworth could be looking at a heightened role to close out the season.
